On April 3rd, Litexpo Exhibition and Congress Centre in Vilnius hosted the sixth Baltic LEAN Forum – the largest conference dedicated to the theme of LEAN – which attracts more than 300 participants annually. The main topics of this year’s Baltic LEAN Forum were sustainable deployment of LEAN, the major skills for LEAN managers, the challenges that leaders face and the transformation of change.
LEAN awards for the best results of the year are also traditionally held at the event in order to introduce participants to the top performing LEAN companies. Girteka Logistics won the nomination Result of the Year.
“To establish a winner in this category, we calculate the ratio between the generated financial benefit and the number of employees. Properly selected projects, addressing key operational issues and their systematic implementation from the very start have generated the benefit of over 2 million euro”, Vidas Petraitis, the founder of lean.lt and one of the organizers of the forum explained the award.
The award was given for the successful application of LEAN philosophy in 2018 – solving complex problems with the help of PDCA method, standardizing employee activities, transferring LEAN to electronic space.
According to Ramūnas Stanišauskas, Head of Quality and LEAN in the company, the implementation of LEAN in the organization as well as its continuous improvement are endless processes, so this year there is no intention to bow out of it.
Girteka Logistics has been implementing LEAN methods since 2014. At present, the organization already boasts of the Quality and Process Team, individual Method Guides, as well as Operational Efficiency Managers in each department. Kaizen, Gemba, PDCA and other LEAN methods are becoming increasingly important parts of our every day’s life and way of thinking, thus contributing to a consistent growth and purposeful management of the organization.
